Quiet Engagement Session in Washington

This specific spot in Washington is ALWAYS packed. So you can imagine the surprise when we pulled up and it was completely empty. COMPLETELY. A ghost park.

V + S were nervous about their session. They insisted they were β€œawkward” and β€œunsure of how to act.” But you don’t even get a glimpse of that here. I learned a while ago that a lot of the time when clients are nervous or β€œawkward,” it’s because they’ve never had the experience of a photographer making them feel completely at ease. They’ve never had the room to just be; to relax and hang out. A lot of our industry demands perfection and poses and immediate trust - but how on earth can you expect that from two people you just met in a parking lot? Why should they trust you???

My greatest joy in photography is to extend that invitation to just be. Looking my clients in the eyes and saying, β€œHey. This is low pressure. I don’t expect anything. Just be yourself, hang out, talk, laugh, joke, make fun of me, just breathe.”

You can see shoulders come down. Smiles come forward. Body language shift.

My heart is always to capture people as they are with the ones they love. It never ever ever ever gets old. Ever.
